Temperatures recovering
Largely dry

Issued: 0900 Sunday 11th April 2021
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Largely dry with sunny spells this week with temperatures attempting to recover.

Current high pressure to the west of the UK shifts position this week seeing the colder Arctic air move out allowing for temperatures to recover. A week of largely dry conditions and sunny spells is expected, although a chiller easterly wind could pick up along coasts with overnight frost still possible.

Wednesday 14/04/21
Weakened fronts lie across the country on Wednesday which will bring generally a cloudier day for many. Patchy rain is expected across southern and central parts of England for a time which will gradually push into Wales and then across Ireland and Northern Ireland through the afternoon, brightening up across much of England as the rain clears from the east. Mostly dry across Scotland and northern England. Highs at 9 to 13C.

Thursday 15/04/21
Some frost to attend with first thing on Thursday. High pressure sits to the east of the UK and a largely dry day is expected, although cloud is forecast to build, particularly across England, with the small chance of one or two showers developing in any thicker cloud. Best of the sunshine to the north and west. A persistent easterly wind starts to develop across England and particularly through the southern coasts and Channel. Highs between 8 to 12C.

Friday 16/04/21
Friday will again see some frost to start but it will be another largely dry day, although the odd shower cannot be ruled out in the far south in any thicker cloud developing on a reasonably brisk easterly wind. A largely sunny day too is forecast, however, a front pushes in from the west and will bring thicker cloud to west Ireland and the far west of Scotland as well as the Northern Isles where rain is possible. Highs at 9 to 13C.

Saturday 17/04/21
A largely dry day once again on Saturday as high pressure looks to remain dominant, although a few scattered showers cannot be ruled out across some southern English counties. It could feel rather chilly for some, particularly along coasts, in that reasonably brisk easterly wind. Highs between 9 and 14C.

Sunday 18/04/21
High pressure remains dominant on Sunday, although there is the risk for low pressure over the near continent to push up towards southern England allowing for a build in the cloud cover across southern and central England and Wales with some patchy rain also. Drier elsewhere with sunny spells. Highs at 10 to 13C.

Monday 19/04/21
Once again high pressure looks to remain in situ and bring a largely dry day, although, like Saturday there could be more in the way of cloud about across England and Wales, possibly producing some light rain and drizzle for some. Highs at 9 to 13C.
