More unsettled with wind, rain and showers as well as remaining cool
A more unsettled week ahead as the jet stream returns bringing rain and showers as well as strong winds. It will be continuing to feel cool too, with a risk of some wintry precipitation over the hills of northern England and Scotland. Further showers or spells of rain later in the week too.

Tuesday 4/5/21 Low pressure will be in the North Sea on Tuesday, a strong and showers northwesterly flow affecting the whole of the UK and Ireland. There will be heavy showers and longer spells of rain, most of them in areas facing the north and west. Sleet and snow affecting high ground of the far north of England and southern Scotland. Southern areas of England are likely to be drier and brighter with more scattered showers. Highs at just 4C in some parts of southern Scotland and northern England, 12C in the drier, sunnier parts of southern England.
Wednesday 5/5/21 Low pressure remains to the east on Wednesday. This continues to allow a northwest flow to affect the country bringing sunny spells and scattered showers in the morning. The showers will be heavier in the east, more persistent here too and with a risk of thunder. Fewer showers and drier in the west. Highs at 7 to 11C and feeling cold for all.
Thursday 6/5/21 An area of low pressure passes through the Channel on Thursday. This brings cloud and periods of rain, some of it heavy. Drier and brighter further north, some showers in northern and eastern Scotland, these being wintry on the hills. Highs at 7 to 12C.
Friday 7/5/21 An area of low pressure to the southwest of Ireland bringing the risk of some rain in Ireland and southwestern parts of the Uk through Friday. Drier and brighter in the north and east, although scattered showers in Scotland. Highs at 10 to 13C.
Saturday 8/5/21 The area of low pressure is expected to be over Ireland and the UK through Saturday. Heavy, thundery showers across Ireland, rain in Scotland and much of England and Wales. Highs at 17C in southeast England, cooler in northern England and Scotland at 6C.
Sunday 9/5/21 Low pressure over the UK on Sunday. A day of sunshine and showers, these heavy and thundery at times. Highs at 10 to 16C.
