Milder for many than recent weeks, turning colder again through the weekend and next week

The nest few days are going to be milder than it has been for most over recent weeks. Periods of rai at times. Tending to be drier and cooler into the weekend with the risk of frost returning. Hints of the weather staying drier and colder for the early stages of next week too.

Thursday 14/1/21
A slow moving front affecting eastern Scotland and eastern England on Thursday. This brings periods of rain together with the risk of sleet and snow over high ground. The rain, sleet and snow is expected to become lighter and more patchy through the day.Further cloud and some periods of rain in central and southern England. Drier in the west of Scotland, Wales and western England with the best of any sunshine in Ireland. Highs at 5 to 7C in Scotland and northern England, 11C in southern England.

Friday 15/1/21
Pressure is going to be building over the country through Friday. Cloudier skies in the east where there could be a few spots of rain and sleet. Drier and brighter in the west with sunny spells here. Increased winds in western Ireland, cloud and rain arriving here later. Tops at 7C in the west and south, 5C in the east.
 

Saturday 16/1/21
Fronts across much of Ireland and the west and north of the UK on Saturday. Periods of rain here, most persistent in the west. Drier in the east with cloud being more broken here and some bright spells developing. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Sunday 17/1/21
On Sunday lower pressure may bring some cloud and periods of rain across southern parts of the country. Cooler and drier air follows from the north. Some bright or sunny spells developing here. Tops at 5 to 7C.

Monday 18/1/21
A cooler day for Monday as a ridge of high pressure builds. This brings sunny spells and much dry weather. There will be some wintry showers in Northern Ireland and Scotland as well as northern England. Highs at 4 to 6C.

Tuesday 19/1/21
Staying cooler on Tuesday. Cloud and some wintry outbreaks over much of England and Wales. More persistent sleet may affect Ireland. Highs at 3 to 5C.
