Wednesday 20/01/21
Low pressure stays in control of conditions over the UK and Ireland into Wednesday. A wet and windy day for much of England and Wales. Rain turns to snow later over northwestern areas. Snow possible too at times for southeast Ireland and for northeastern parts of Scotland for much of the day. Best of the sun for western parts of Ireland and Scotland. High temperatures at 2 to 5C for northern and western areas; 8 to 12C for much of England and Wales away from the northwest.

Thursday 21/01/21
Low pressure is slow to clear east on Thursday so the risk of snowfall over northeastern England and much of eastern Scotland remains. With accompanying strong winds here there is a risk of blizzard-like conditions for some. A wet and very windy day for the Northern Isles. Elsewhere winds are strong but it stays mostly dry away from northwest-facing coasts and hills where wintry showers are likely. Best of the sun to the south and southwest. Highs at 2 to 7C.

Friday 22/01/21
A cold northwest to northerly wind for the British Isles on Friday. This brings a bright day for many but with wintry showers spreading southward over Scotland and affecting higher ground in England and Wales too. Northwest-facing coasts and hills also at risk of catching a wintry shower or two. Highs of 1 to 6C.

Saturday 23/01/21
High pressure may ridge across the UK and Ireland briefly on Saturday bringing a quieter day of weather. Early frost, as well as mist and fog patches, should clear to leave a mostly bright day. Some wintry showers persist over northern areas. High temperatures range from 1 to 7C.

Sunday 24/01/21
Confidence in the detail is low but it looks as though lower pressure returns to our shores on Sunday. Winds pick up and outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow are possible for northwestern areas. Tending drier but cloudier for southern and eastern areas. High temperatures at 1 to 8C.

Monday 25/01/21
Low pressure stays close by on Monday bringing a mixed bag of weather to the UK and Ireland. Outbreaks of rain accompanied by milder air may flow into southern areas while northern areas remain cool with wintry showers. Confidence remains low. Highs at 2C in the north, 11C in the south.
