A cold period of weather through the course of this weekend and into the early stages of next week. There could be some sleet and snow for many areas. Sunday 24/1/21
Low pressure stays to the north of Scotland on Sunday. There is the threat of an area of more persistent sleet and snow passing eastwards through Wales, the Midlands and southern England during Sunday perhaps giving a covering of snow in places. More persistent snow showers will also affect northern Wales and Northwest England as well as the north and west of Scotland and Northern Ireland. More eastern areas tending to stay drier and brighter. Cold for all. Temperatures at 2 to 4C for most, perhaps 5C in the far southwest and Ireland.

Monday 25/1/21
Another cold day. Plenty of sunny spells across the UK and Ireland. Snow showers will be affecting northern and western coast and hills. However for many it should be generally dry. Highs at 3 to 5C.

Tuesday 26/1/21
A ridge of high pressure brings a dry start to the day with sunshine and a widespread frost. Increasing cloud brings rain, preceded by a period of sleet and snow eastwards through all parts of the country. It could be that several hours of snowfall affect parts of Scotland, northern and eastern England. Highs at 2 to 5C for most, but to 7C in western Ireland and southwest England as the winds increase here.

Wednesday 27/1/21
Probably a better day with higher pressure briefly building to bring some sunshine. Snow showers in western Scotland. A further area of rain, sleet and perhaps some snow on high ground in southwest England. Highs at 4 to 6C for most, 10C in southwest England and Ireland.

Thursday 28/1/21
Low pressure is expected again to be over all close to Scotland on Thursday. Early rain is likely that this will clear quickly eastwards to be followed by some bright or sunny spells. Rain may affect central and western Scotland for much of the day. A further area of rain reaching southern Ireland and western parts of Wales and England later. Quite a breezy day. Highs at 10C in the southwest, 6C in Scotland.

Friday 29/1/21
Another unsettled day with bands of rain passing eastwards followed by showers. It will again be breezy. Highs at 6 to 11C.
