Becoming cooler and mostly dry, but some showers north and east

High pressure builds over the coming days bringing drier weather. There will be some showers, mostly in the north and east. The winds become more northerly which allows for cooler air to drain through all parts of the British Isles. Chilly nights bringing a risk of a ground frost in well sheltered areas of the west and north. Probably a little cloudier yet milder next week.

Friday 16/9/22
High pressure to the northwest of Ireland with low pressure to the east on Friday. There will be a few showers in northern and eastern Scotland, further showers affecting eastern coasts of England. For other areas it will be feeling chilly with sunny spells. A brisk northerly wind with highs at 10C in northern Scotland, 18C in southern England.
 

Saturday 17/9/22
The area of high pressure stays west of Ireland on Saturday. Low pressure to the east allows for the north to northwest flow giving some showers in northern Scotland, with a few affecting eastern England too. A cold start with a touch of ground frost. Dry for most, with sunny spells. Highs at 12 to 17C.

Sunday 18/9/22
High pressure drifts over Ireland on Sunday. Lower pressure to the east. Some showers in northern and eastern Scotland and eastern England, mostly light. Sunny spells and dry for most areas. Feeling cool again during the day after a chilly start. Highs at 13 to 19C.

Monday 19/9/22
High pressure drifts over the British Isles. Cloud and some showers in east Anglia and southeast England. Dry for most other areas with bright or sunny spells. Temperatures at 16 to 19C.

Tuesday 20/9/22
The area of high pressure stays over the British Isles on Tuesday. Some cloud and a few showers in east Anglia and southeast England. Broken cloud too in western Ireland. Dry and bright for most areas with sunny spells. Highs around 15 to 19C.

Wednesday 21/9/22
High pressure drifts east through Wednesday but continues to affect the British Isles. Some cloud, most in the north and west with a few spots of drizzle on the coasts here. Some brightness inland. Highs at 15 to 19C.
