Rain, showers and strong winds with a risk of gales, few drier days

A mixed week ahead with low pressure bringing rain, showers and strong winds. A ridge of high pressure will be bringing dry and warmer weather early in the week. Winds may reach gale force on several days.

Monday 3/10/22
A ridge of high pressure over England and Wales on Monday. This brings some morning mist and fog patches early on. These clear to leave a dry and bright day with some decent spells of sunshine in the east and south. Cloud and rain affecting the west of Ireland and western Scotland, some of this rain becoming heavy as the winds increase to gale force. Highs at 18C in the sunshine in the southeast, 12C in western Scotland, 17C in Ireland.

Tuesday 4/10/22
Cloud and rain in Scotland, windy here too. Staying wet across Ireland with heavy bursts of rain and staying windy. Some patchy rain and showers reaches the west of Wales and western England. Other areas are probably going to be stying dry and breezy, some sunshine in the east although cloud increasing in western areas. Highs at 21C in eastern England, 15C in western Scotland.

Wednesday 5/10/22
A slow moving front edges east on Wednesday. Rain in England and Wales, some heavy at times. Brighter and fresher in Scotland and Ireland as well as western England and western Wales later. Highs at 19C in the southeast, turning cooler in Scotland and Ireland at 12C.

Thursday 6/10/22
A showery and breezy day with the showers being heavy and persistent in the north and west. Fewer showers in the east and south with some sunny spells. Highs at 10 to 15C.

Friday 7/10/22
Low pressure north of Scotland on Friday. Frequent and heavy showers in northern and western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland, northwest England and western Wales. Brighter in the east and south with sunny spells. Staying windy. Highs at 10 to 17C.

Saturday 8/10/22
Showers in northern and western Scotland, some heavy and prolonged. Scattered showers over western coasts of Wales and northwest England. Fair in other areas with sunny spells. Highs at 8 to 14C.
