Thundery rain in the west this weekend, then drier and fresher next week

Turning cooler through this week as winds become more northerly. Some cool nights with a ground frost in more sheltered areas of northern England and Scotland.There will be some showers to the north and east, tending to be drier and brighter west and south. Turning cloudier during the weekend and into next week with some drizzle in Scotland.

Thursday 15/9/22
High pressure building to the west of Ireland on Thursday. Lower pressure to the east. A cooler northerly flow affecting all parts of the country. Cloud and some outbreaks of showery rain in northern Scotland. A scattering of showers may affect eastern coasts too. For most it will be dry with sunny spells. Feeling cool in the wind with highs at 22C in the sunshine through central and southern areas, 15C in northern Scotland.

Friday 16/9/22
High pressure west of Ireland on Friday, low pressure to the east. The northerly flow giving some showers to northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England. A few showers in northern Wales too. For other areas it will be bright and dry with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 14C in northern Scotland, 23C in southern England.

Saturday 17/9/22
High pressure to the southwest of Ireland on Saturday. A cold morning for most. Low pressure to the east. A cooler northwest flow affects all areas of the country. Some showers around the western, northern and eastern casts of Scotland as well as eastern England. Mostly dry and cool elsewhere with sunny spells. Highs at 14 to 22C.

Sunday 18/9/22
High pressure remains southwest of Ireland on Sunday. A weak warm front passes north bringing cloud and some drizzle in Ireland, reaching western Scotland later. Broken cloud and some showers in central areas of England and Wales. Brighter in Scotland with sunny spells. Some sunny spells too in southern England. Highs at 14 to 18C.

Monday 19/9/22
High pressure drifts into Ireland on Monday. A warm front passing through Ireland and Scotland bringing cloud and some drizzle as well as patchy rain in Ireland and western Scotland. Brighter over eastern and southern England and Wales with sunny spells. Highs at 14C in northern Scotland, 18C in southern England.

Tuesday 20/9/22
High pressure over southern England, Low pressure to the north of Scotland. Cloud and outbreaks of rain for the north and west of Scotland, some drizzle in western Ireland. Fair for southern areas with sunny spells, more cloud over northern England and Wales. Highs at 15 to 22C.
