Becoming windier and cooler with rain and showers, most north and east

A mixed week ahead. Starting mostly dry with sunny spells, some cloud and rain in the northwest mid week, this area if rain and showers then passing south as the week progresses. Becoming windier and cooler too, especially in the north and east where there will be showers too.

Thursday 22/9/22
Heavy rain for Scotland and Northern Ireland, especially over the hills, extending into Cumbria and then later into west Wales, becoming increasingly heavy. Showers follow in western Scotland. The Midlands, south and east of England stay dry with sunny spells and feeling pleasantly warm. High cloud building from the northwest. Brisk southwesterly breezes, strongest in the north and west. Feeling humid in the south. Highs at 15 to 22C, warmest southeast.

Friday 23/9/22
Outbreaks of rain move into central and southern areas, but rain tending to break up as fronts weaken. Extensively cloudy for much of England and Wales, but the rain likely clearing the north and west, followed by drier, brighter and relatively cooler weather here. A few showers for western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Breezy in the north. Highs at 15C north to 20C south.

Saturday 24/9/22
Variable cloud and sunny spells. Many places staying dry. Scattered showers focused around coasts in the west with a risk of more persistent, sometimes heavy showers and rain in East Anglia and southeast England. Feeling fresher for all, highs 14 to 19C.

Sunday 25/9/22
Much of Britain and Ireland may stay dry with sunny spells. A risk of wind and rain moving in from the west and norther of Scotland. A cool morning, but a pleasant feeling day, highs 14 to 18C.

Monday 26/9/22
Northwesterly winds are likely to affect the country, bringing some rain or showers and fairly cool conditions. Most of the showers in the north and east Some sunny spells in the south and southeast. Highs 9 to 15C.

Tuesday 27/9/22
Low pressure east of the country on Tuesday with high pressure west of Ireland. Cold again in the northwest wind with showers around northern, western and eastern coasts. The showers in the east being most persistent. Highs at 7C in north Scotland, 14C in southern England.
