Turning unsettled and muggy

A trough moves in across the country from this weekend bringing heavy and perhaps thundery rain as well as strengthened winds. While unsettled it will feel warm and muggy through the first half of next week, before a fresher flow and a brief settled spell moves in later in the week.

Sunday 4/9/22
Low pressure sits to the southwest of the country on Sunday sweeping associated rain bands northwards. Much of the rain will affect western areas at first before clearing and pushing persistent rainfall across much of Scotland and northern England during the afternoon. Windy across northern Scotland. Another very warm day in the southeast with highs at 27C, 19 to 24C elsewhere.

Monday 5/9/22
Low pressure continues to circulate just to the southwest of Ireland on Monday. Heavy, thundery showers as well as longer spells of rain with windy conditions will affect much of Ireland and Northern Ireland into parts of Scotland, west Wales and southwest England, though drier weather for the rest of England. Another muggy day with highs at 19 to 26C.

Tuesday 6/9/22
A trough stays dominant over the British Isles on Tuesday with outbreaks of rain spreading east and north across the country, heavy and persistent rainfall for some, mainly through western areas. Another warm and muggy day for most with highs at 20 to 26C.

Wednesday 7/9/22
More thundery showers or longer spells of rain in the south of Ireland, Wales, western parts of England and much of Scotland. Drier across eastern regions of England. Highs at 18 to 24C.

Thursday 8/9/22
Low pressure starts to slide eastwards across England on Thursday which will shift the rain emphasis more towards eastern areas clearing much of the far west through the day and dragging in a cooler flow here. Highs at a fresher 17 to 22C.

Friday 9/9/22
Low pressure moves out over the North Sea at the end of the week. Much of Ireland, Northern ireland and central southern England will see a drier and brighter day, while further north will see outbreaks of rain still and it will be breezy. Highs at 17 to 22C.
