Mixed and cooler, windy at times and cool

Turning mixed and colder into next week. Rain and showers together with strong winds early in the week. Little changes during the week although the winds will ease. It is likely to be staying cool. By the end of the wek we need to watch for ex-hurricanes reaching the British Isles bringing the risk of severe gales and rain.

Monday 26/9/22
An area of rain and colder air plunges south overnight into Monday. The rain could be heavy at times as it passes through. Brighter weather follows from the north with strong and gusty winds as well as showers. Most of the showers around northern and eastern Scotland and eastern England. Some showers too over western and northern coasts of Wales. Sunny spells elsewhere and feeling cold in the wind. Showers may turn wintry over the hills of Scotland. Highs at 9 to 12C for many, but to 15C in southern England.

Tuesday 27/9/22
Low pressure east of the UK on Tuesday. The northwest wind brings a mix of sunshine and showers, and it is going to be windy too. Most of the showers in northern and western areas. More persistent rain reaching Ireland later. Highs at 10C in northern Scotland, 16C in the far south of England.

Wednesday 28/9/22
Rain crosses southern England on Wednesday morning, the rain heavy at times. Some heavy showers could affect eastern England. Elsewhere it will be dry and bright with sunny spells and scattered showers, most in western Ireland. Chilly again at 12 to 16C.

Thursday 29/9/22
Further scattered showers in Scotland and eastern England on Thursday with a shallow area of low pressure in the North Sea. rier and brighter in Ireland and western parts of the UK, but then some rain could reach Ireland later in the day. Highs at 12 to 16C.

Friday 30/9/22
An area of low pressure passing into Ireland through Friday. This brings strong winds and some heavy rain to Ireland and the west of the UK. Drier in central and eastern areas with some sunshine, but winds increasing. Highs at 12 to 16C.

Saturday 1/10/22
The low pressure areas passing into Scotland on Saturday. A windy day with a risk of gales. Rain in Scotland, some heavy. Showers affecting western areas, drier in the east. Highs at 10 to 15C.
