Chilly and showery then rain and milder later in the week

A chilly sart to the week with showers, most around the coasts. Turning drier for a time on Thursday ahead of the risk of strong winds and rain for many on Friday. The weekend looks brighter and milder although there could be some rain in the south.

Thursday 29/9/22
A ridge of high pressure building on Thursday. There could still be some showers in East Anglia and southeast England at first, although these should fade. Fair for most other areas with sunny spells and dry weather. Cloud may increase in the west of Ireland later as a front approaches. Highs at 13 to 16C.
 

Friday 30/22
An area of low pressure northwest of Scotland on Friday pushes a front eastwards bringing strong winds and some heavy rain. Brighter weather follows through Ireland in the morning, although some heavy showers in the west. The brighter weather with some showers reaching western England and Scotland in the afternoon. Showers could be heavy and prolonged in western Scotland. Highs at 16C in southern England, 9C in northern Scotland.

Saturday 1/10/22
Low pressure stays northwest of Scotland on Saturday. A front may be close to southern Ireland and southern England as wel as south Wales, bringing some cloud and rain with it. Other areas are brighter with sunny spells, although some showers over western coasts and hills. Highs at 12C in Scotland, 17C in southern England.

Sunday 2/10/22
A weak ridge of high pressure may affect eastern and southern areas on Sunday bringing bright and dry weather here. Cloudier in the west as fronts move north through Ireland giving some cloud and rain. Low cloud and drizzle over western coasts and hills of England, Wales and Scotland. Highs at 15C in the west but to 17C in any brightness in the southeast.

Monday 3/10/22
An area of low pressure northwest of Scotland gives rain to much of Scotland, Ireland and the west of the UK. Drier in the east and south, although some rain cannot be ruled out in these areas later. Highs at 15 to 18C.

Tuesday 4/10/22
A brighter day. Sunny spells and mostly dry, although some showers in northern Scotland. A risk of some cloud and rain affecting southern Ireland and perhaps later in southwest England. Highs at 13 to 17C.
