Heavy showers follow

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 9th August 2019
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Windy, gales coasts and hills

Good morning,

A deep area of low pressure will be centred to the southwest of Ireland, drifting slowly northeastward through the day.

Fronts will advance north into Scotland, with a swathe of heavy rain for many hours. This fades across England & Wales in the morning, before a wrap around of heavy showers will follow from the southwest. Southeast England should see longer dry spells with some sunshine.

Strong winds, particularly coasts and hills, gales later in the southwest. Brisk easterlies affect Scotland ahead of the fronts moving northward.

Today's top temperatures up to humid 24C in the southeast, nearer 22C in central areas, and 15 to 18C toward the north and west.

Have a great day.
Garry
