Morning Call - August 16, 2019
Wet
Very windy

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 16th August 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A deep area of low pressure is bringing some wet & windy conditions our way today.

Good morning,

It's a wet start to the day for the island of Ireland, Scotland, western Wales and northwest England as an area of low pressure moves towards the northwest. Windy too, particularly for western areas. Rain and strong winds will spread further south and east throughout the morning with the heaviest rain spreading across northern, central and southwestern parts of England. Behind this, over much of Ireland and northern Scotland, the heavier rain clears to leave scattered blustery showers and some sunny spells.

Through the afternoon, the heaviest rain continues to sink southeastward reaching the far southeast of England by the early evening. Scattered showers, some of them heavy, continue behind this band of rain across much of Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Strong winds too continue across the country. High temperatures widely at 16 to 20C.

Heavy rain continues for the Midlands and southern England through Friday evening while showers start to ease for eastern areas. Showers, or more prolonged spells of rain, continuing for western coasts and hills. Staying breezy too through this evening, particularly for the southeast.

Take care out there today!
Claire
