Mostly dry
Lingering mist & fog

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 1st January 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A mostly dry start to the year across the UK and Ireland. Cloudier to the northwest with a chance of drizzle to the far northwest of Scotland. Winds picking up here through the day too. Clearer skies to the southeast where the best of the sunshine will be after early mist and fog patches clear.

Good Morning and Happy New Year,

It's a dry start to the year across the UK and Ireland though there will be some mist and fog patches around that may be slow to clear. Breezy with cloudier skies to the north and west with clearer skies to the east.

Some patchy drizzle may develop through the afternoon over northwestern parts of Scotland but this is not likely to be widespread. Winds picking up here too through the afternoon reaching gale force for coastal areas. Staying dry elsewhere with a few lingering mist or fog patches. The best of any sun to the southeast. High temperatures widely reaching 6 to 8C.

Staying mostly dry but cloudy into the evening with gales continuing to affect northwestern areas.

All the best for 2020!

Claire
