Morning Call - January 03, 2020
Gales north
Dry, bright south

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 3rd January 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Outbreaks of rain and very strong winds for northern parts of Scotland. Elsewhere it stays mostly dry after early rain clears to the southeast. There will be varying amounts of cloud around with the best of the sun over central and southern England.

Good Morning,

It's a cloudy start to the day for most across the UK and Ireland. Light, showery rain clears to the southeast of England through the morning while northwestern parts of Scotland see some wintry showers and very strong winds. Winds reaching gale force or strong for northern Scotland and the Northern Isles. Later in the morning we may see some brighter spells develop for eastern Ireland, Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, Wales and western parts of England.

Through the afternoon cloud builds over Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland while wintry showers spread across the northern half of Scotland. Continuing very windy here too with gales for coasts and over higher ground. Cloud also builds over the north of England while the best of the afternoon sunshine will be for Wales and central and southern parts of England. High temperautres ranging from just 5 to 8C for most.

Showers turn to rain over northwestern Scotland but it stays dry elsewhere with cloudier skies to the west, clearer skies to the east.

Have a good day!

Claire
