Morning Call - July 31, 2019
Thundery rain north
Drier south/west

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 31st July 2019
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Some prolonged downpours

Good morning,

Low pressure will rotate slowly eastwards into the North Sea today, centred just off eastern England.

Areas of heavy and thundery rain affect many northern regions of Britain, with some prolonged downpours possible for the Scottish Highlands, Borders, Pennines and out into Lincolnshire and Norfolk. A lot of surface water and localised flooding of small rivers and streams is possible.

Showers will be more scattered further south and southwest, also across Ireland, with lengthy dry periods and sunny spells. Brisk west to southwest winds for England & Wales, especially coasts of East Anglia and the southeast.

Today's top temperatures will reach 19 to 23C, and feeling quite humid. Several degrees cooler in persistent rain, and fresher around coasts in the west.

Have a great day.
Garry
