Cloudy, damp west
Dry, bright east

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 8th July 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A split in the weather today with wet and cloudy conditions for Ireland and the western half of the UK, mostly dry and brighter for eastern parts of the UK

Good morning,

A chilly but bright start to day for northern and northeastern areas, cloudier but milder to the south and west. Outbreaks of showery rain will spread eastward into northwestern parts of Ireland and western Scotland through the morning. Staying mostly dry elsewhere though there could be an isolated shower or two for southeastern parts of England.

Through the afternoon outbreaks of rain will spread across much of the island of Ireland with some heavier bursts for eastern areas at times. Showers spreading across Scotland and into northern England too through the afternoon. Showery rain will reach the far west of Scotland by the early evening while there could be an isolated shower or two for southern parts of England and Wales. High temperatures at 17 to 20C for most. Cooler in the northwest of Scotland at 15 or 16C, warmer over southern parts of England and Ireland at 21 or 22C.

Rain easing over eastern Ireland through the evening but continuing over the far north of the island and over western Scotland. Showers continuing too for north Wales and western parts of England, these becoming heavier and more prolonged.

Have a good day!
Claire
