Scattered showers

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 7th July 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A mixed day ahead with scattered showers for some and good sunny spells. Best of the brightness to the east, cloudier to the west.

Good morning,

A chilly start to the day for those in Northern Ireland, the north of Scotland and north Wales. Some light spots of rain around too for the northeast of Scotland. Dry elsewhere with a mixture of cloudy skies and brighter spells. Showers affecting southern parts of Scotland and Ireland and the north of England as we go through the morning with the best sunny spells over Scotland and the northeastern half of England. Rather overcast elsewhere to the west and south.

Into the afternoon and scattered showers will persist over southern regions of Scotland and Ireland as well as the north of England. These showers will be mostly light and rather isolated. The best of the afternoon sunshine will be for northeastern parts of the UK. Staying cloudier to the southwest and for Ireland. High temperatures widely reaching a fresher 16 to 19C. Cooler for northern Scotland at just 12 or 13C, warmer to the south at 20 or 21C.

Showers should ease for most into Sunday evening though parts of East Anglia could see a further spot or two of rain. Clearer skies staying to the east, cloudier to the west.

Have a good day!
Claire
