Thundery showers east

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 12th July 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A warm day for most with sunny spells. Showers affecting eastern areas, some of these heavy & thundery through the afternoon.

Good morning,

A mild start to the day across the country; warm and rather muggy in the southeast. There will be some showers around too - these heaviest in the northeast of Scotland. Light showers affecting northwestern parts of England, Ireland and Wales. Showers will continue through the morning and some heavy, thundery bursts could affect southeastern parts of Scotland, northeastern England, East Anglia and parts of the East Midlands. Warm with good sunny spells for many.

Continuing much the same into this afternoon. Showers, some of them heavy and thundery, affecting eastern areas, drier and brighter to the west and southwest. High temperatures reaching 18 to 23C for most. Cooler at 16C in the north of Scotland, warmer at 24C in southeast England.

Some heavy showers will continue to affect southern parts of Scotland and northern parts of England into this evening. Staying mostly dry elsewhere with sunny spells for many.

Have a good day!
Claire
