Early thunderstorms clearing

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 20th July 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Any early thunderstorms and heavy bursts of rain should clear from most areas to leave a dry & bright afternoon for many.

Good morning,

Any early rain lingering over southeastern parts of England should quickly clear to the east while heavier rain over central parts of Scotland should also start to ease. Scattered showers affecting much of Scotland, the north of England and north Wales though it will be dry elsewhere. Through the morning further heavy rain will develop over southeastern England and northeastern Scotland which may be thundery in places. A drier and brighter morning for Ireland and the southwest of the UK.

Through the afternoon rain should clear from England to leave dry and bright conditions. Continuing mostly dry and bright for much of the island of Ireland and Wales with just a slight chance of an isolated showers developing. Heavy rain continuing for northeastern parts of Scotland and Fife. High temperatures at 17 to 19C for Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the north of England; 20 to 23C more typical across central and southern England though some parts could reach 24 or 25C.

Showers should fade everywhere through the evening to leave a dry and mostly bright end to the day.

Have a good day!
Claire
