Dry south and east

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 21st July 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A very wet day for Ireland and northwestern parts of the UK today. Drier and brighter to the southeast.

Good morning,

A dry start to the day for much of the British Isles. Brighter to the east of England and Scotland, cloudier for Ireland and western parts of the UK. A few light spots of rain may also affect the far west of Scotland and Ireland while a few isolated showers may develop over western Wales and the northwest of England. These showers will become more widespread across the north of England and Scotland as an area of heavy rain pushes across Ireland. The far east of Ireland staying dry though rather overcast here.

Rain spread across Ireland, further across Scotland and into northern England through Sunday afternoon. Some of this rain will be heavy, particularly across Ireland and western Scotland. Staying dry for much of Wales and central and southern England though there will be some cloud around. High temperatures at 15 to 20C for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Wales and the north of England. Central and southern England more likely to see highs of 21 to 25C.

Rain easing over Ireland into Sunday evening but persisting over Scotland and northern and western parts of England and northern parts of Wales.

Have a good day!
Claire
