Showers turning thundery in central and western areas, fresher in Ireland and Scotland
Good morning,
It's a wet and murky morning in western parts of England and Wales as a weak fronts edges east. The rain associated with the front may become heavy, albeit always showery at times as it passes into northern England and Wales later this morning, perhaps with a crack of thunder. The rain then turns heavier and more persistent, with an increased risk of thunder as it passes into the Midlands this afternoon.
Drier in much of eastern England and eastern Scotland. Staying warm in the southeast. An isolated shower could affect the southeast at first, but some bright spells are likely here as well. Rain arrives in the eastern Midlands by late afternoon. Much fresher weather in much of Scotland and Ireland, although some showers in the west. The best sunshine in Ireland throughout today.
