Mixed conditions with a risk of some weekend gales then cooler for all

Fresher air arrives for all along with with more mixed weather conditions. Most rainfall is likely to be in western and northern areas with little in the south and east. A risk of gales in Scotland and Ireland early in the weekend as the weather turns cooler for all. Staying cool to start next week with sunny spells and scattered showers.

Saturday 31/08/19
An area of low pressure crosses Scotland on Saturday bringing heavy periods of rain and strong winds. Most of the rain in Scotland, northern England and Wales. Showers following from the west with eastern areas tending to be drier with plenty of sunny spells. Highs at 21 or 22C in southeast England, 12 or 13C in central Scotland.

Sunday 01/09/19
Sunday brings a cool and showery day as low pressure is north of Scotland. The northwesterly wind allows for the showers to be heavy at times and perhaps merge to more persistent rain, especially in the north and west. Fewer showers to the south which is where the best sunshine will be too. Highs at 11C in northern Scotland, 19C in southeast England.
 

Monday 02/09/19
Another cool day as northwesterly winds prevail. These brings a mixture of sunshine and showers again, although the showers less frequent and not as heavy as on Sunday. Plenty of sunshine around too. High temperatures at 12 to 18C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 03/09/19
A ridge of high pressure is expected to build on Tuesday. This brings sunny spells and dry weather for most after a cool night. A front may arrive from the Atlantic bringing rain to western areas later. Highs at 13 to 18C.

Wednesday 04/09/19
A front passes across the UK bringing showery rain to England and Wales through the morning. Rain returning to western areas as lower pressure is closer to western Ireland and western Scotland. Drier and brighter to the south and east. Highs at 13 to 19C.

Thursday 05/09/19
A northwesterly flow establishes once more with high pressure to the west. A mostly sunny day with showers for Scotland and northern and eastern parts of England. High temperatures at 14 to 20C.
