Wind, rain and showers through the weekend, becoming drier and brighter next week

A better weather day on Thursday ahead of windier and more unsettled weather arriving for Friday and the weekend. Rain on Friday then showers for Saturday and Sunday. Indications are that conditions improve next week as pressure starts to build. It should become drier with sunny spells becoming more frequent.

Saturday 17/8/19
Low pressure will be over western Scotland on Saturday. A front may allow for some more persistent showers or rain in the far southeast of England. Elsewhere a windy day with a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers tending to be heavy at times and mostly affecting western and southern areas. More persistent rain in western Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland too. Highs at 21 to 23C in much of central and eastern England, 16 to 20C elsewhere.

Sunday 18/8/19
Low pressure dominates on Sunday. This brings another windy day. Rain in Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and into parts of northern England Sunshine and showers for the rest of the country, heavy and prolonged at times, mostly in the west. Highs at 15 to 22C.
 

Monday 19/8/19
Further showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland on Monday. Western coasts and hills will have showers too. Isolated showers elsewhere with some bright or sunny spells. Less breezy with tops at 16 to 22C

 
 
 

Tuesday 20/8/19
A ridge of high pressure building through Ireland and the UK on Tuesday. There is a risk of some scattered showers over western hills, but dry elsewhere with good spells of sunshine. Tops near 17 to 23C.

Wednesday 21/8/19
Higher pressure remains on Wednesday. This brings a dry day for most with some good spells of sunshine. A risk of an isolated showers over eastern coasts. Highs at 18 to 23C.

Thursday 22/8/19
Pressure is expected to remain high on Thursday. This brings broken cloud and sunny spells as well as dry conditions. Tops at 18 to 24C.
