A mixed week, driest in the south but some rain to the north

A mixed week of weather ahead across the whole of the UK and Ireland. Southern areas will tend to be drier overall and will become warmer too. More northern areas will have cloud and some outbreaks of rain at times, most of these affecting western coasts and hills. Gales at times in western Scotland and Ireland.

Thursday 22/8/19
Low pressure remains west of Scotland on Thursday. Showery outbreaks of rain in western Scotland becoming more persistent. Drizzly and windy in western Ireland. Breezy for the rest of Scotland and eastern Ireland with sunny spells. Some cloud and showery bursts of rain in central and eastern England, these tending to fade during the day. Sunny spells developing for most and dry conditions too. Highs at 16 to 23C.

Friday 23/8/19
A ridge of high pressure affecting England, Wales and southern Ireland on Friday. There may be some low cloud and drizzle over some western coasts, but other areas will be dry with sunny intervals. A front bringing cloud and rain into northwest Ireland and much of western Scotland with the risk of heavy rain. Drier in eastern Scotland. Highs at 26C in southeast England, 17C in western Scotland.

Saturday 24/8/19
Low pressure stays west of Ireland and Scotland on Saturday. Cloud and rain in Ireland and western Scotland. Morning mist and fog patches for other areas, clearing to leave a dry day with sunny spells. Warm for most with tops of 22 to 28C, but 18C in western Ireland and western Scotland.
 

Sunday 25/8/19
Low pressure passes through Scotland on Sunday giving showers and outbreaks of rain. There could be some showers in northern England, the Midlands, Wales and Ireland. Drier to more southern areas with sunny spells. Tops at 19 to 25C.

Monday 26/8/19
A deep area of low pressure may develop south of Ireland. Fronts push eastwards through Ireland and much of Scotland with some spots of rain in western Wales and western England. Drier in southern areas. Highs at 18 to 23C.

Tuesday 27/8/19
Sunshine and showers in Scotland and Ireland on Tuesday, the showers heaviest in the west. Outbreaks of rain in northern and western England as well as Wales. Dry in eastern and southern areas. A risk of gales in western Scotland and Ireland. Highs at 16 to 25C.
