Wind, rain and showers through the weekend, becoming drier and brighter next week

Windier and more unsettled weather conditions arriving for Friday and the weekend. Rain on Friday then showers for Saturday and Sunday. Indications are that conditions improve next week as pressure starts to build from mid-week. It should become drier with sunny spells becoming more frequent.

Sunday 18/08/19
Low pressure dominates on Sunday, centred to the northwest of Scotland. This brings another windy day. Rain in Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and into parts of northern England. Sunshine and showers for the rest of the country, these heavy and prolonged at times, more so in the west. High temperatures at 14 to 21C.

Monday 19/08/19
Further frequent showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland on Monday as low pressure moves off to the northeast. Western coasts and hills will have showers too. Isolated showers elsewhere with some bright or sunny spells. Less breezy with high temperatures at 15 to 21C.
 

Tuesday 20/08/19
A westerly flow continues on Tuesday with low pressure to the north. Further showers and outbreaks of rain for the British Isles. These heaviest and most frequent for western areas. Isolated showers further east and south with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 16 to 22C.
 

Wednesday 21/08/19
Higher pressure begins to build from the west on Wednesday. Showers through the morning will clear to the east for most areas through rain could linger for western Scotland. Becoming drier and brighter from the southwest as the day progresses. Highs at 16 to 23C.

Thursday 22/08/19
Pressure is expected to remain high on Thursday. This brings broken cloud and sunny spells as well as mostly dry conditions. A few showers may linger for a time over Scotland. Highs at 16 to 24C.

Friday 23/08/19
High pressure is expected to stay with us on Friday bringing another mostly dry day with broken cloud and good spells of sunshine. High temperatures at 18 to 23C.
