Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Winds will strengthen through the day. Rain pushing into far northern and western areas but largely dry elsewhere.

In the morning, it will become increasingly cloudy and windy for northern and western areas of the UK. Largely dry but some light and patchy rain does affect far western areas. More in the way of sunny spells further south and east. Mainly dry too although there will be some patchy drizzle affecting parts of south Wales and southwest England.

During the afternoon, rain will become heavier across far western areas and progress further east across Northern Ireland as well as Ireland and Scotland. Cloud thickening for many across England and Wales with some patchy light rain and drizzle still affecting parts of Wales and southwest England. Staying dry elsewhere. Winds picking up in the south too.

Overnight, cloudy with spells of rain affecting Ireland, Northern Ireland and much of Scotland as well as parts of northern England. Patchy, light rain and drizzle across Wales and parts of central England. Drier elsewhere with variable cloud cover, best of the clear spells towards the far southeast.
