Wet & windy
Mild south

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 31st October 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A wet and very windy day for most across the UK and Ireland today. Most areas are likely to see rain at some point through the day as bands of rain push from west to east over the region. These will be accompanied by some very strong winds. These generally strongest to the west but gales are possible for exposed coastal areas and over higher ground almost anywhere.

Good Morning,

A wet and very windy start for many across the UK and Ireland with most areas seeing outbreaks of rain at some point through Saturday morning. Strong winds spread to all areas but will be strongest in the south and west where they could reach severe gale force or stronger for exposed areas.

Rain spreads northwards and eastwards over the UK through the afternoon while brighter conditions develop over Ireland, Wales and western England for a time. Winds ease slightly here for a times. Outbreaks of rain and blustery showers continue to affect western parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland. Rain will be heaviest and most persistent over western Scotland. Continuing very windy here through the afternoon with gales for exposed areas around the country.

Rain eases for much of the UK into Saturday evening with the exception of western Scotland where it persists. Cloud builds over Ireland and another area of rain spreads into the southwest of both Ireland and the UK through the evening accompanied by strengthening winds here once again. Gales likely for exposed coastal areas in the southwest and around the north of Scotland.

Happy Hallowe'en indeed!

Claire
