Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 17th March 2019 Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan
Sunday will be a rather mixed day across the British Isles with a mixture of good sunny spells and scattered showers which will be wintry in nature, particularly over higher ground.
Good morning,
It will be a chilly start to the day across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Wales and the north of England with a risk of frost and ice patches for many. Scattered showers mainly affecting north-facing coasts and hills across Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales through the morning. These will fall as sleet and snow over higher ground and as hail at times to lower levels.
Showers will spread further south through the afternoon affecting much of England though clearing for Northern Ireland, Ireland and Scotland. It will be a brighter afternoon here too. High temperatures will struggle to reach double figures, topping out at 6 to 9C for most.
Showers will continue to ease through the evening and cloud will start to build from the west. Skies should stay clear over eastern areas.
Have a good day! Claire
