Cold, unsettled north
Becoming drier to south

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 6th March 2019
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Snow over hills of Scotland, rain here too, cold in the north

Good morning,

Rain and strong winds early this morning in East Anglia and southeast England, this clearing quickly. Scattered showers and plenty of cloud for much of the rest of England and Wales. A further area of rain affects southern Scotland and the far north of England, this extends into the north and west of Ireland. Dry in northern Scotland, but cold.

This afternoon stays cold through Scotland with rain in the east and south, sleet and snow on hills. Heavy showers in northern and western areas, but perhaps drier in the east. Ireland has showers in the north and west, although some rain in eastern parts of Northern Ireland.

A wet, and in places wintry, night over the hills of eastern and southern Scotland and norther England, with rain for many at lower levels here.
