Morning Call - March 16, 2019
Wet & windy
Gales at times

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 16th March 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

It will be a wet day for many as an area of low pressure brings heavy rain and some snow. It will be windy too with gales possible at times.

Good morning,

A small area of low pressure centred over Northern Ireland first thing this morning will bring heavy rain to much of Ireland, Wales, northern England and southern Scotland this morning. This will turn to snow over higher ground and possibly to lower levels too over northern England during the morning. It will be a windy start to the day too for the southern half of the UK and Ireland with gales possible for many.

Through the morning the rain and snow will spread northward and eastward. The heaviest rain will affect north Wales and the northwest of England. Rain will clear Ireland through the afternoon but will be followed by heavy, blustery showers. High temperatures reaching just 4 or 5C in Scotland, 8 to 12C elsewhere.

The centre of the low will move into the North Sea by this evening. A band of heavy rain will clear to the southeast across England and Wales. Behind this will be clearer skies for most and some scattered wintry showers for western coastal areas.

Have a good day!
Claire
