Sunshine & showers

Severe gales, sunshine and showers

Good morning,

Hold on to your hats this morning because it's a very windy start. As low pressure sits in the North Sea it's blowing cloud and showers into much of northern and western Ireland as well as northwest England, Wales and the north and east of Scotland. The strongest of the winds will be over western parts of the country with gusts over 50mph.

This afternoon brings a mix of sunny spells and showers in England and Wales, most of the showers being well scattered. A higher risk of showers, and moe cloud, in western and northern parts of Wales as well as northern England. Becoming drier in Ireland, although there is always the threat of some showers in the far west.

Feeling cool for all in the wind. The winds easing this evening.
