High pressure builds through this coming week bringing increasingly dry and settled conditions

High pressure will build over the UK and Ireland through this coming week bringing increasingly mild, dry and settled weather. On occasion, fronts will affect northern and western areas bringing rain and stronger winds.

Wednesday 20/03/19
A ridge of high pressure is located to the south of the UK on Wednesday. This brings milder and drier weather with sunny spells, although lower cloud and drizzle is a risk on western coasts and hills. The chance of more persistent periods of rain in western Scotland; drizzle in northern and western Ireland. Highs at 11 to 16C.

Thursday 21/03/19
High pressure stays to the south on Thursday while some fronts affect western and northern areas. After a misty start for southern areas, it will be a mild day for many with some good sunny spells. Some low cloud and rain will affect northwestern areas as fronts bring rain to Ireland and the northern UK through the day. Breezy in the north too. Highs at 10 to 16C.

Friday 22/03/19
High pressure is located to the east on Friday while an area of low pressure is to the west. This puts the UK and Ireland in a strong south to southwesterly airflow. It will be a windy day with showers and some spells of rain in northern and western areas. Drier but overcast in the south and east. Highs at 9 to 16C.
 

Saturday 23/03/19
High pressure builds over Ireland on Saturday bringing a mostly dry, but cooler, day. Cloudy in the south, brighter in the north. A chance of light rain or drizzle first thing in western Scotland. High temperatures at 8 to 14C.

Sunday 24/03/19
High pressure centred is to the southeast on Sunday bringing a fine and dry day for the British Isles. Away from the east some low cloud may linger around coastal areas through the day. High temperatures at 10 to 13C.

Monday 25/03/19
Monday continues dry and fine as high pressure stays close by. Some low cloud may linger through the day for northern and western coasts. High temperatures at 9 to 15C.
