Very unsettled and becoming wet and windy, cool to cold for all

Unsettled weather in the week ahead with low pressure taking control of the atmosphere overhead the UK and Ireland. There will be periods of rain and showers, some of these will be heavy at times. It will be windy on some days too. Temperatures generally below average for the time of year.

Sunday 04/10/20
Pressure stays low on Sunday. More periods of rain rotating around the area of low pressure which will be centred over England. The rain will be heavy at times, and although there is much uncertainty, it does look as if this will be heaviest in Scotland and through southern England and Wales.Some showers developing in central and northern England, these becoming heavy in places. Temperatures at 11 to 15C.

Monday 05/10/20
Low pressure again over the UK and Ireland. A mix of sunshine and showers, these could be heavy and thundery. More persistent rain may affect eastern Scotland and the southeast of England where it may be locally heavy too. Temperatures at 12 to 15C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 06/10/20
Pressure stays low on Tuesday. Sunny spells and showers again. The showers could be heavy and will be concentrated over northern and western areas. Drier across central and eastern parts of England. Highs at 11 to 14C.

Wednesday 07/10/20
A westerly flow developing through Wednesday. This is likely to be bringing a brighter day for many, especially in the east. Showery outbreaks of rain in the west. Maximum temperatures at 11 to 15C.

Thursday 08/10/20
Confidence is low but low pressure could return on Thursday with bands of rain spreading from west to east across the UK and Ireland. More persistent rain to the northwest where gales are possible too. High temperatures at 11 to 15C.

Friday 09/10/20
Pressure stays low to the north on Friday with gales and outbreaks of rain persisting across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Drier and brighter further south but with showers to the west. Confidence remains low. Highs at 10 to 15C.
