Conditions becoming unsettled into next week

Cool weather continues through this weekend. Largely dry but with isolated showers being pulled in on the northeasterly wind. Unsettled to start the new week as low pressure dominates. Expect rain, heavy at times, and strengthened winds. Less cold in the south but staying cold in the north.

Tuesday 20/10/20
Monday's rain clears to the east from southern areas on Tuesday however it will continue wet for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northwest Ireland. A drier and brighter day for much of England and Wales once early rain clears though showers will affect western coasts and hills here and cloud builds over southern areas later. A breezy day for most with highs at a relatively mild 16C in the south, cooler to the north at just 10C.


Wednesday 21/10/20
An area of low pressure is expected to be southwest of the country on Wednesday. Outbreaks of rain spread from the south across most of England and Wales, perhaps reaching into the south of Scotland too. A front over northern Scotland and Northern Ireland remains here for much of the day bringing persistent outbreaks of rain. A drier and brighter day for much of Ireland with rain and showers to the far west at times. Highs at 8 to 16C.


Thursday 22/10/20
Rain slowly clears to the south on Thursday as a ridge of higher pressure briefly builds over the UK and Ireland. Sunny spells and scattered showers, these mainly over southern areas, are the order of the day. Highs at 7 to 11C in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern parts of England and Wales; 12 to 15C in southern and central parts of England and Wales.

Friday 23/10/20
A chilly but dry and bright start to the day on Friday for eastern areas. Cloudy with outbreaks of rain to the west as low pressure arrives. Rain becomes patchy as it moves east while good spells of sunshine and occasional showers follow the rain to the west. High temperatures at 8 to 13C.

Saturday 24/10/20
Low pressure to the west brings further outbreaks of, often heavy, rain to Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, much of Scotland and western and central parts of England. Staying dry for southeast England until later. Windy with highs ranging from 12 to 16C.

Sunday 25/10/20
Early rain clears east to leave a mixture of sunny spells and showers for the UK and Ireland. Showers mainly concentrated over wester areas, staying drier to the east. Cooler in the north with highs of 9C here, 16C to the south.
