Cold with rain or showers for all, most in the east

A cold week anead with a northeast wind affecting much of the UK and Ireland. There will be rain and showers at times, afecting most areas on Monday but generally it will be the east that sees most rain. Western areas tending to be brighter with sunny spells.

Monday 12/10/20
Low pressure crosses the British Isles on Monday. This is going to be bringing cloud and rain to all areas, initially the north and west but spreading quickly eastwards. The rain tending to be fading from the west during the afternoon, although staying wet in the east for some time. Some brighter spells may develop in western Scotland and the east and south of Ireland. Highs at 9 to 12C in many areas, perhaps to 14C in the southwest.

Tuesday 13/10/20
Low-pressure to the east on Tuesday will be bringing further outbreaks of rain and showers to East Anglia and Southeast England, with a brisk north-east wind blowing those showers into eastern part of the Midlands. Tending to be drier in the west with some bright spells. Good spells of sunshine in western Scotland, but showers in the east. A few showers in Northern Ireland, dry for the Reublic of Ireland with sunny spells. Tops at 9 to 12C and feeling cold.

Wednesday 14/10/20
High pressure to the north of Scotland on Wednesday with low pressure to the south. There will be a northeast flow bringing showers and rain in the east. Drier in the west with good spells of sunshine. Thicker cloud in western Ireland. Highs at 10 to 14C after an early ground frost in the west.

Thursday 15/10/20
A northeast flow over much of the country on Thursday. There will be cloud and rain across East Anglia and southeast England as well as parts of the eastern Midlands. Drier in Scotland and western parts of England and Wales as well as Ireland with the best of the sunshine here. Highs at 10 to 14C.

Friday 16/10/20
A weak front may be bringing some outbreaks of rain in western Scotland and Ireland on Monday. More central and eastern areas should be dry although rather cloudy with only limited spells of sunshine. Highs near 10 to 13C.

Saturday 17/10/20
Low pressure to the south of the country on Saturday, higher pressure to the north. Further spells of rain and showers in eastern areas. Drier and brighter to the west with sunny spells. Highs at a cool 9 to 13C.
