Cold for the rest of this week, then more unsettled and milder next week

Cold weather continues through the rest of this week and into the weekend. Some showers affecting eastern areas of England and Scotland, although generally brighter in the west with the best sunshine here. A change into next week as temperatures become milder with rain and showers as well as stronger winds.

Friday 16/10/20
The east to north-easterly flow persists on Friday with high pressure remaining north of Scotland. There will be a scattering of showers along eastern coast of England and these will affect parts of southern England to. For most other areas it will be dry with broken cloud and some bright or sunny intervals. More prolonged sunshine is expected in western Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as Northwest England. A few showers affecting eastern Ireland but bright in the west. Highs at 10 to 12C at best but 13C in the southeast.


Saturday 17/10/20
A more slack east to northeast flow across the UK and Ireland on Saturday. Scattered showers over eastern coasts. A fair amount of cloud affecting many areas, although the best sunshine is likely in western Wales and western Scotland. Cloud and some outbreaks of showery rai in the far south. Highs near a cold 8 to 10C in the north, 12C in the far south.
 


Sunday 18/10/20
A fair amount of cloud on Sunday for many areas. Showery bits of rain in Wales and southwest England as well as southern Ireland. Drier to the north and west and staying cloudy here too. Highs at a cold 8 to 12C.

Monday 19/10/20
Low pressure to the southwest of Ireland with a south to southeast flow affecting all parts. Stronger winds may affect Ireland and southwestern parts of the UK with rain here, becoming heavy at times. Drier to the north and east although a fair amount of cloud for most. Highs at 10 to 14C.

Tuesday 20/10/20
The area of low pressure remains close to Ireland on Tuesday. There will be spells of rain for most areas, some of it heavy. A breezy day too. Highs near 11 to 14C.

Wednesday 21/10/20
Another unsettled day with low pressure bringing further spells of rain. The rain mostly in the west and south, less in the east. Windy again with highs at 12 to 15C.
