Becoming more unsettled through the week with severe gales and heavy rain

The week ahead is going to be unsettled. It is likely to become wetter and windier during the second half of the week and into the weekend. Rain could be heavy, especially in the west. Local flooding could occur. Winds will be reaching gale force at the same time perhaps to storm force in the west at times. Hints of conditions settling into next week.

Thursday 29/10/20
A brisk south-westerly flow will be affecting all parts of the UK and Ireland on Thursday. Rain will be spreading eastwards but the heaviest of this affecting western coasts and hills. Gales are likely in the west. Central and eastern Scotland is probably going to be dry at first, as will be the east of England. However, rain will be arriving here in the afternoon with the winds increasing. Highs at 10 to 15C.

Friday 30/10/20
Another unsettled day on a Friday as a shallow area of low pressure crosses Ireland and the UK. This brings rain into Ireland and western parts of England and Wales through the morning, spreading eastwards through the afternoon. Again some of the rain may be heavy in the west. Scotland will have some rain in the south but most other parts of Scotland will be drier with sunny spells. Staying breezy for many. Highs at 16C in southern England, 10C in northern Scotland.

Saturday 31/10/20
A deep area of low pressure to the west of Scotland on Saturday will be bringing gale force winds to many areas. There will be clouds and periods of rain, most of it affecting Scotland, western England, Wales and Ireland. Eastern parts of England and Scotland are likely to see only patchy rain. Gales may become severe in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Mild in much of England, Wales and Ireland but feeling colder in Scotland. Highs at 16C in southern England, 8C in northern Scotland.

Sunday 1/11/20
Low-pressure brings another unsettled day on Sunday. It will be windy for all with periods of rain passing from west to east. The heaviest of the rain always in the west. A risk of gales in places too. Highs at 11 to 16C.

Monday 2/11/20
More rain on Monday as low-pressure and fronts move east through the country. Once again most of the rain will be across more western areas and this could be heavy. Tending to turn drier and brighter from the west. Windy for all places. Tops at 8 to 15C.

Tuesday 3/11/20
A brighter day is likely for Tuesday. Staying breezy but with drier conditions and some sunny spells. They will be some showers in northern and western Scotland as well as affecting the western coast of Ireland. Highs at 8 to 12C.
