Wind & rain
Pressure building later

Issued: 0930 Thursday 29th October 2020
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Very unsettled weather for the next few days with plenty of rain and high winds, before high pressure builds next week.

Very unsettled weather is expected over the coming days as the UK and Ireland sit right under the Jet Stream. Low pressure systems will bring plenty of rain as well as high winds to many places. The heaviest and highest rainfall is expected in the west. Temperatures will be mild for the time of year across southern areas. Through next week high pressure looks to build to being calmer yet cooler weather.

Sunday 1/11/20
Staying unsettled with all areas seeing some rain at times throughout the day. Rain will be heaviest and most persistent across southern and eastern areas first thing. Scotland should be largely dry to start. Windy across the south and west. Through the day rain will spread northwards and winds will be brisk for most all places. Rain will clear from the west for a time before the next low pressure system and rain band moves in later. Mild in the south and southeast with highs here at 16 to 17C, cooler further north and west with highs here at 10 to 11C.

Monday 2/11/20
A windy day ahead. Wet with rain across much of England and Wales initially before the rain clears Wales and central England through the morning. Rain will clear the south and southeast of England later on. Sunny spells and showers behind. Meanwhile, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland will see strong winds, gales in places, as well as blustery showers, these merging into longer spells of rain at times. Drier further east across these areas. Mild for much of the day across southern and southeastern areas with highs here at 16C but cooler air moves across the country and by the end of the day and max temperatures will be around 8 to 14C.

Tuesday 3/11/20
Winds will ease throughout the country. A calmer day generally with plenty of dry conditions, however, more in the way of patchy rain across Wales and south England. Showers also expected to affect northern and northwest Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and northwestern coasts of Ireland. Highs at 8 to 12C.

Wednesday 4/11/20
A ridge of high pressure builds across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, although, it is somwhat scuppered by a weak front pushing from north to south down the country. This will bring cloudy skies and patchy rain as it passes through. Drier and brighter conditions before the front and behind. Exception is to the far southeast of England where it could remain cloudy for much of the day with some showers pushing through here. Highs at 8 to 11C.

Thursday 5/11/20
High pressure remains across the country on Thursday. Expect some morning mist and fog patches and these could be slow to clear. Where they do the day should be dry and bright. Breezier in northern Scotland as well as across southern English coasts where there look to be scattered showers about too. Tempertaures around 7 to 11C.

Friday 6/11/20
High pressure remains again although there is the risk of a weak front pushing down the country bringing cloud and patchy rain at times, however, there is low confidence in this currently. Temperatures at between 8 to 11C.
