Unsettled with rain and showers, increasing risk of gales but mild for all

An unsettled week ahead. Low pressures areas will be bringing periods of rain, followed by showers. It is going to become increasingly windy with severe gales, especially in the west. Overall temperatures will be close to average although there will be some colder and warmer days too.

Saturday 24/10/20
A deep area of low pressure west of Scotland on Saturday. This brings windy weather with a risk of widespread gales. Outbreaks of rain over western coasts and hills but tending to be drier further east until evening. Rain across Ireland, some of it heavy, with this moving into the west of England, Wales and Scotland, the rain heavy in central and western Scotland. Sunny spells in western Ireland and the far west of Scotland later as drier weather arrives. A warm day at 13 to 16C for much of England and Wales, becoming cooler at 8 to 10C in Ireland and Scotland.

Sunday 25/10/20
Low pressure over western Scotland on Sunday. Gales across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland too with cloud and rain, most in the west. Sunshine and showers across the rest of England and Wales. Further showers in Ireland reaching northwest England and western Wales. Drier in the east. Highs at 14C in eastern England, 10C in Scotland and Ireland as well as Wales and western England.

Monday 26/10/20
Low pressure stays to the north of Scotland on Monday. A mix of sunshine and showers for all areas with most of the showers in the west. Cloudier skies and more persistent rain in the far north of Scotland. Highs at 9 to 12C.

Tuesday 27/10/20
Another wet and windy day as fronts push eastwards bringing more rain, most of it in the west. Gales are likely to be widespread. Highs at 12 to 15C.

Wednesday 28/10/20
Staying unsettled as low pressure remains west of Scotland. Bands of rain and showers passing eastwards, with heavy showers following to the west. Windy again. Highs at 11 to 15C.

Thursday 29/10/20
Unsettled again with wind, rain and showers again traversing west to east. It may stay cloudier in southern England with outbreaks of rain here. Highs at 10 to 15C.
