Turning colder next week, but mild in the south before then
Weather conditions are set to improve next week as high pressure builds. It may become colder though and there is a risk of some wintry showers over eastern areas. Before then it should be milder with variable cloud and some patchy rain in England and Wales, mild in the south and cooler in the north.

Tuesday 17/3/20
A southwest flow through the UK with some low cloud and drizzle over western hills and coasts. Some more persistent rain in Scotland as a front edges south. Tending to be drier in the east and south. Highs at 8 to 13C.
 Wednesday 18/3/20
A ridge of high pressure remains in the far south. A front extends through Ireland, Wales and central England bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain. Mild in southern England with broken cloud, some low cloud and mist over coasts and hills. Brighter in northern England and Scotland. Some showers in northern Scotland, these wintry in places. Highs at 8 to 12C.
 Thursday 19/3/20
A front clears southern England on Thursday, taking outbreaks of rain with it. Brighter, cooler weather follows to all areas, although some wintry and heavy showers affecting northern and western Scotland. Highs at 7 to 12C.
Friday 20/3/20
High pressure is expected to be northwest of Scotland on Friday. This brings dry and sunny conditions for many, but it will be feeling cold in the wind. Some wintry showers affecting northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England. Best sunshine in the west. Highs at 4 to 9C.
Saturday 21/3/20
High pressure remains close to Scotland on Saturday. This brings another cool day, but one with plenty of sunshine. Some cloud over eastern coasts and hills with a scattering of wintry showers. Highs at 5 to 8C.
Sunday 22/3/20
Pressure stays high over the UK and Ireland on Sunday. More dry weather to come with lots of sunshine. A few showers over eastern coasts. Highs at 5 to 8C.
