Breezy and changeable with rain and showers, milder temperatures overall at first

Mixed weather conditions continue through the coming week. There will be periods of rain, although temperatures probably getting milder into next week initially. Winds increasing again too with a risk of gales, especially in the west. Hints of temperatures cooling again later in the week.

Tuesday 10/03/20
Low pressure to the north and higher pressure to the south on Tuesday. A band of rain sinks southward through southern Scotland, Ireland and northern parts of England and Wales. Drizzle and low cloud over western coasts and hills. Cooler and brighter in Scotland later where a few showers affect northern and western areas. Gales for western and northern areas. High temperatures at 7C to 14C.


Wednesday 11/03/20
Breezy again on Wednesday with gales for northern areas. Pressure stays higher to the south and lower to the north. Some rain and drizzle over western coasts and hills and showers spreading eastward. Some showers turning wintry over higher ground in the north. Outbreaks of rain develop over Ireland and the northwest UK later. Drier in the southeast and on southern coasts. Highs at 5 to 12C.


Thursday 12/03/20
A westerly flow through the UK and Ireland on Thursday. Cloud and some rain affecting western Scotland, some drizzle on western coasts of Wales and southwest England. Showers spread across Ireland though these ease later. Drier in the east. Gales confined to the far north. High temperatures at 4 to 9C.
 


Friday 13/03/20
A mixed day on Friday as two low pressure systems affect the UK and Ireland. The first brings strong winds and outbreaks of rain and snow to northern Scotland during the morning. The second tracks across Ireland then into Wales and England during the afternoon bringing heavy rain and gusty winds. Otherwise a mixed day of showers and sunny spells with highs of 4 to 9C.


Saturday 14/03/20
High pressure to the south on Saturday brings a mostly dry and fair day. Showery outbreaks of rain and sleet affect far northwestern parts of Scotland and Ireland. Dry elsewhere. Winds ease. High temperatures at 6 to 10C.

Sunday 15/03/20
Sunday may see a strong westerly flow develop across the British Isles bringing strong winds to western coasts and hills. A mostly bright day though western areas could see frequent showers. These wintry to the north and over higher ground. Highs of 5 to 9C.
