Staying mixed with rain at times but briefly colder early next week

Mixed weather throughout this week. There will be periods of rain and some strong winds at times. Temperatures tending to stay milder. However, by late in the weekend conditions may become cooler, and this leads to a brief hit of cold weather early next week.

Thursday 12/3/20
Staying rather mixed through Thursday. Rain clears eastern Scotland and northeast England in the morning, followed by a further ares of rain and showers into western Scotland and Ireland in the afternoon. Windy with some showers in west Wales, but drier in central and eastern areas. Wintry showers in northern Scotland. Highs at 10 to 12C for most, but 6C in northern Scotland.

Friday 13/3/20
Low pressure in the North Sea on Friday. A front across the south will be taking rain with it, clearing southern England by afternoon. Some showers over eastern coasts of Scotland and England. Becoming drier and brighter for most as a ridge of high pressure builds from the west. Tops near 8 to 12C.
 

Saturday 14/3/20
A weak area of low pressure brings a band of showers east through all parts of the country on Saturday. The showers could be heavy at times, especially in the west. However, it then turns drier in the west later in the day with sunny spells developing. Showers continue into the afternoon in Scotland. Highs at 6 to 12C.
 

Sunday 15/3/20
Pressure is low north of Scotland on Sunday. An area of rain will be affecting England and Wales, moving east during the day. Heavy showers then follow from the west. The showers merging to longer spells of rain in western Scotland and western Ireland, turning to snow on hills as colder air arrives here. Highs at 6 to 14C.

Monday 16/3/20
A colder day as a ridge of high pressure builds to the west. The winds turn to the north and showers affect northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England. Drier in more western areas. Wintry showers on Scottish Hills. Tops around 5 to 8C.

Tuesday 17/3/20
A frost is expected on Tuesday morning with high pressure over the UK and Ireland. Dry weather with sunny spells and dry conditions too. Thicker cloud in western Ireland and the ar west of Scotland. Highs at 7 to 12C.
