Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 7th March 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Wet and windy conditions spread across the country from the west today. Central and southeastern parts of England should stay dry though cloud will increase through the day. Winds reaching gale force for western coastal areas and hills. Rain most persistent and heaviest over western hills too.

Good Morning,

The day starts dry for many though rain quickly moves into western and northern parts of Ireland and western Scotland. Winds strengthen across the country too with gales for western and northwestern coasts and hills. The best of any morning brightness quickly becomes confined to southeast England.

Through the afternoon rain spreads across Ireland, perhaps reaching northwestern parts of England and Wales. The heaviest rain likely to be over western Scotland and the southwest of Ireland. Cloud spreads to most areas and winds strengthen through the Irish Sea with gales for western coasts of England and Wales.

Through the evening rain spreads into the north of England and Wales with some heavy bursts expected over northwest England. Rain eases over western Ireland but some heavy showers develop here. Winds stay strong to the west and southwest.

Have a good day!

Claire
