Windy with rain and showers, some snow on hills, then drier next week

Staying unsettled through this week and into the weekend. There will be wind, rain and showers, some of the showers and rain heavy at times. A risk of some sleet and snow on hills, especially in northern England and Scotland. Turning drier next week as pressure builds, milder too.

Monday 16/03/20
A cold day on Monday as a ridge of high pressure builds in the west bringing a widespread morning frost. This also brings sunshine and isolated showers in the east, but dry weather to start in the west. Cloud builds to the west later with rain arriving to the far northwest of Ireland and over northwestern Scotland through the evening. Highs at 6 to 11C and feeling chilly in the wind.

Tuesday 17/03/20
Higher pressure to the south on Tuesday with lower pressure to the north. A band of showery rain affects parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland as well as southern Scotland and northern England at times. Showers, some wintry, to the north of this; staying dry and mostly bright to the south. High temperatures at 7 to 14C.
 

Wednesday 18/03/20
High pressure remains over most of the country on Wednesday. A morning frost gives way to dry weather with sunny spells. A weak front extending through Ireland, northern and central England and Wales could give some cloud and a few spots of rain here. A few showers for the north of Scotland too. Highs range from 6 to 15C.
 

Thursday 19/03/20
High pressure to the west brings another mostly dry day. There is a risk of some showery rain for southern parts of Wales and England as a very weak front sinks south, but mostly dry for other areas. Northern parts of Scotland could see isolated showers develop. Highs at 7 to 15C.

Friday 20/03/20
Another frosty start on Friday as high pressure stays close by to the northwest. A dry day for most with good spells of sunshine. A few showers may develop over eastern parts of England at times. High temperatures at 6 to 10C.

Saturday 21/03/20
High pressure stays close by on Saturday bringing another fine and mostly dry day. Southern parts of England may see the odd shower develop at times while eastern areas may see cloudier conditions develop. Highs at 5 to 9C.
