Feeling very cold in the wind, especially to the south and east; some wintry showers

A colder period ahead through this weekend and into next weekend. The northeast wind will be strong at times bringing a risk of some showers to the east. There will be some frosty nights in the west and a signficant wind-chill affecting many areas, especially the east. Tending to remain cold later in the week, but conditions becoming more mixed.

Tuesday 31/03/20
High pressure is centred just to the west of Ireland on Tuesday. There will be some broken cloud through England and Wales. Some showers in central and eastern areas, most of them light. Brighter across much of Scotland and Ireland, but some broken cloud here too. High at 7 to 11C.

Wednesday 01/04/20
Low pressure is to the north of Scotland on Wednesday. A strong, westerly flow in northern and western Scotland brings frequent showers here, some of them heavy. Drier and brighter to the south and east with the best of the sunshine in southern areas. Highs at 7 to 10C.
 

Thursday 02/04/20
Low pressure east of Scotland on Thursday. A brisk northwest wind affects Scotland and Northern Ireland. Heavy showers in northern and western Scotland, these turning wintry on hills. Further south it should be dry with sunny spells and broken cloud. Highs ranging from 8 to 13C.
 

Friday 03/04/20
The northwest flow persists through Friday with low pressure to the east. Showers in the north and west, these wintry at times on hills. Drier to the south and east with some bright or sunny spells. Highs at 7 to 12C.

Saturday 04/04/20
Conditions may become more mixed on Saturday with showers for many areas. The showers could be locally heavy and wintry, especially in the north. High temperatures at 6 to 12C.

Sunday 05/04/20
A front may bring outbreaks of rain to northern areas on Sunday, this turns to snow in the far north. Otherwise, a mostly dry day with a few sunny spells to the south. Highs at 7 to 12C.
