Breezy and changeable with rain and showers, milder temperatures overall at first

Mixed weather conditions continue through the coming week. There will be periods of rain, although temperatures getting milder into the middle of the week. Winds increasing again too with a risk of gales, especially in the north and west. Hints of temperatures cooling again later in the week.

Wednesday 11/03/20
Breezy on Wednesday with gales for northern areas. Outbreaks of rain and sleet affect Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and far northern parts of England through the day. Frequent showers follow for these areas after the rain has cleared, some of them wintry. A drier but cloudy day for the rest of England and Wales though southern coastal areas of England could see some drizzle at times while showery rain affects western parts of Wales later. Highs at 5 to 14C.


Thursday 12/03/20
A westerly flow through the UK and Ireland on Thursday. Cloud and some outbreaks of rain and sleet affecting northern parts of the UK and Ireland at first. Showers affect northern and western coasts and hills. These turn wintry over higher ground to the north. Drier and brighter for central and eastern areas. Gales confined to the far north. High temperatures at 5 to 11C.


Friday 13/03/20
A mixed day on Friday as two low pressure systems affect the UK and Ireland. The first brings strong winds and outbreaks of rain and snow to northern Scotland during the morning. The second tracks across Ireland then into Wales and England during the afternoon bringing heavy rain and gusty winds. Otherwise a mixed day of showers and sunny spells with highs of 6 to 9C.


Saturday 14/03/20
Ealry outbreaks of rain clear from the southeast as another area of low pressure brings rain to northwestern areas. Rain then spreads from the northwest, reaching most parts of the UK by Saturday night. Brighter conditions with showers follow from the west. High temperatures at 6 to 10C.


Sunday 15/03/20
Further rain affects northern areas through Sunday though this eases to showers through the afternoon. Drier and brighter conditions spread across the country from the southwest though showers persist for eastern coasts through the evening. Breezy. Highs of 5 to 9C.

Monday 16/03/20
Monday may see a ridge of higher pressure building bringing drier and bright conditions for most though some cloud may linger over eastern and western coasts and hills. Chillier with high temperatures at 4 to 9C.
