Plenty of dry weather with sunny spells, although some cloud and rain in northwest Scotland

Higher pressure is in evidence through this week and this brings a fair amount of dry weather for all. There will be some bright or sunny spells for many areas. Breezy at times in southern and eastern areas where it will feel cooler in the wind. Moist rain northwest Scotland.

Thursday 18/5/23
High pressure east of the country through Thursday. Broken cloud and sunny spells, the best of the sunshine in southern and eastern areas. A cold front approaches western Ireland bringing some patchy rain here. A risk of some drizzle and patchy rain in northern and northwestern Scotland. Low cloud afecting the hills and coast here too. Highs at 13C in northwest Scotland but more widely 17 to 19C in sunshine.


Friday 19/5/23
High pressure remains in control through Friday. There is a risk of some cloud in southern and eastern areas with a chance of some drizzle over eastern coasts. Further cloud and some patchy rain in northwest Scotland. Brighter and dry elsewhere with sunny spells, the best in the west and north. Highs at 12C in northwest Scotland, 16 to 18C elsewhere.

Saturday 20/5/23
Pressure remains high through Saturday. Dry conditions overall. More cloud in the east and south, although this broken with some bright spells coming through, the best sunshine in the west. Some cloud and patchy rain in northwest Scotland but fair elsewhere. Highs at a warm 21 or 22C in Scotland, 19C in southern England where the northeast wind makes it feel cooler.

Sunday 21/5/23
High pressure affecting the UK and Ireland again on Sunday. It is likely to be dry with sunny spells, best in the north and west. More cloud in the east and south of England. The best sunshine in the west. A brisk northeast breeze making conditions feel chilly in the south and east too. Highs at 16 to 19C but cooler in the east and south.

Monday 22/5/23
A slack pressure flow over the country on Monday. Rather a lot of cloud for many areas with patchy rain, most across Ireland, Scotland and eastern England. Perhaps drier to the southwest. Highs at 14 to 19C.

Tuesday 23/5/23
High pressure west of Ireland on Tuesday. A chance of lower pressure in the North Sea and this may bring some cloud and outbreaks of rain to eastern areas. Drier and brighter in the west. Highs at 12 to 16C.
