Dry and fair for most, cloudier north and west at times, getting warmer

A fair few days ahead for many as high pressure remains in control of conditions. There will be some good spells of sunshine, although cloud from time to time in Scotland as Ireland as weakening fronts progress eastwards. Warming temperatures too, especially from the middle of the week.

Tuesday 23/5/23
Pressure stays high through Ireland and the British Isles on Tuesday. There will be a fair amount of cloud with some bright or sunny spells for many areas. More cloud in northern and western Scotland with a risk of some drizzle in western areas and some low cloud on hills and coasts of northwest Scotland too. Temperatures at 12C in northwest Scotland, widely 16 to 18C.

Wednesday 24/5/23
A front passing east through Scotland and Ireland on Wednesday. There will be some outbreaks of rain here as the front moves through. Dry for most other areas with broken cloud and sunny spells. Highs at 21C in England and Wales, 10C in northwest Scotland.

Thursday 25/5/23
Fronts passing through Scotland bringing cloud and patchy rain in northern and western Scotland. Dry for other areas under high pressure and some good spells of sunshine too. Highs at 12C in northwest Scotland, 17 to 22C elsewhere.

Friday 26/5/23
Pressure remains high through the country on Friday. There will be good spells of sunshine and it should stay dry. Some cloud in northwest Scotland with a chance of some patchy rain here. Highs at 17 to 23C.

Saturday 27/5/23
A front bringing cloud and rain into the north and west of Scotland as well as northern and western Ireland on Saturday. Fair for much of England and Wales with some bright or sunny spells. Highs could reach 21 to 24C for many with 14C in northwest Scotland.

Sunday 28/5/23
A weak front may give some cloud to northern England and Wales on Sunday. There may be some patchy rain here too, although perhaps turning thundery in the afternoon. Fair for other areas with sunny spells. Some showers in western Scotland although mostly fair here. Tops at 14C in northwest Scotland, 22C in southeast England.
